Scylla and Charybdis

We finally are on the way home where I can relax and share my journey with my family. Before we could go home, we were interrupted by a two head monster named Scylla that ate several of our men. Odysseus told all of us to stay calmed, but I was so scared I couldn’t calm down. My heart was beaten so fast it could pop out. All of a sudden one of the monsters threw up in the water. I gagged and threw up after the monster threw up because I hate the smell of it. The other monster swallowed it up and it made a big whirl pool.

Yet again Odysseus had us tie him up to the ship. Before I could speak, Odysseus made me watch over the men to make sure they were doing everything right. It was so much going between Odysseus calling orders for his men to row the boat not towards the whirl pool to the two head monsters creating the vertex in the middle of the sea. I was getting tired of being on the ship, but I knew the more I help out the faster I’ll get home.

The Sirens

Passing through the island of The Sirens was the worst day of my life! There were singing maidens and in order not to hear them Odysseus made us fill our ears with beeswax’s  What if one of the men didn’t want to fill their ears? You couldn’t argue with Odysseus so therefore everyone did it to my standards if we would have listened to the song we would have been attracted to the women that were singing it. I was so terrified I nearly fainted. Watching over the ship while Odysseus was tied up was kind of out of my job. I thought to myself, I’m only an assistant nurse. What can I do to help the ship out? I did just what Odysseus told me to do and it was an accomplishing move.

The Land of the Dead

Despite the trouble with Poseidon, we made it from the island where the Cyclops was. That wasn’t the only thing hard to get from. Upon us was Circe. He told Odysseus that he had to go to the underworld before he ended his journey and went home. I sure hope that this plan Odysseus has to accomplish doesn’t involve blood.

Of course Odysseus is going to listen to anything that way he could get home and that’s exactly what he did. He gets to the land of the dead and sees Teiresias laying on a step. Odysseus called me quick because the top nurse wasn’t on the ship. I pronounced that Teiresias was dead!

The Cyclops

I finally got a nap in before we hit the next island. I woke up and saw Odysseus and his men already gone. Well that was a bummer! I’m guessing they didn’t need my help. It helped me a lot because I was about tired of helping out with stuff I didn’t learn about yet. I’m only an assistant nurse!

I suddenly hear a loud noise and saw Odysseus and his men came running back to the ship with sheep in their hands. After, I see this big one eyed Cyclops running after them. Odysseus, being the cocky man he is, had to say something to the Cyclops before we had life and that’s what started the whole conflict with Poseidon.

The Lotus Eaters

We’ve landed on another island today and it looked quite empty. A few of Odysseus men got off the ship to see if there were any interesting creatures that they’ll find, but instead the found a flower, a lotus flower. We were waiting for the men to return to hear good news. The mean returned, but not with news that we wanted to hear. They ate the flower!

After the few men ate the flower they were suffering from not remembering their homeland. I wonder if Odysseus thinks that I could help them remember. I hope not. Instead of them wanting to go back to Ithaca to their family they wanted to stay on the island.

Today, the men wanted to have a little fun and I just knew I was going to get off the ship to do something. The men were eating sheep (the nastiest thing I’ve ever seen). To my knowledge the men were drunk and were acting like fools. Falling all over the place and acting like they didn’t have any sense. Odysseus was getting embarrassed I would say.

I had to go retrieve the men; orders from Odysseus. They wanted to stay on the land and didn’t want to get back on the ship. Odysseus called my name and told me to come one. Suddenly, the warriors of the island came out and were ready to fight the men. I tried to call the men back to the ship, but they didn’t listen.
